Florence Seck, Nutritional Therapist and Somatic Movement Coach

Florence Seck · Nutritional Therapist and Somatic Movement Coach

I know what it is to be told your period pain and PMS are normal,

and to be sent home with nothing. I don't believe any of it is normal, and ten years of women's health work, biomedical training and hundreds of cycles later, the evidence says otherwise.

My story

Ten years of being told this was normal.

For most of my life I was the shy one, quiet, polite, good at school, so used to keeping everything I felt to myself because I didn't want to be difficult. From thirteen my body kept telling me something was wrong, tooth infection, excruciating period pain that would make me pass out, bladder infections, gut issues, anxiety. I felt weak and embarrassed, and I over-analysed myself constantly, never finding an answer.

Then one evening, curled around a hot water bottle, feeling relieved the PMS phase was over, but suddenly I was faint and sick with period pain, it hit me. My life being so affected by my menstrual cycle could not be normal, and despite doctors never finding anything "wrong" there must be another way.

So I took it into my own hands. I trained in biomedicine and nutritional therapy, then did hours of research, read books, found every bit of information I could about women's cycles and later trained in somatic movement to support emotional healing too.

Over the years researching I tested everything on myself, and slowly every symptom started to disappear. Because what I learnt is that your cycle is a reflection of your overall health, and by working with my cycle, understanding what the different symptoms meant, and how to support my body, every part of my life improved. My health became resilient and strong, I became more connected to myself and who I am, which helped me create a life I love, real deep friendship and a loving relationship.

I'd finally stopped surviving and started thriving, and I knew every woman deserved to feel like this.

It's been ten years since that night with the hot water bottle. Nutrition helped rebuild a strong body, and somatic movement is what helped me understand how much our emotions and our nervous system are part of healing too.

Now I show women that it isn't normal to feel like a completely different version of yourself during PMS week, or to pop painkillers just to get through your period. I use science and somatics together, to help them understand their cycle, calm their symptoms, and reconnect to themselves.

Training & qualifications

I didn't choose this work. I lived it.

Everything I studied, I studied because women, like me, with PMS and period pain were being dismissed by doctors. Biomedicine to understand physiology, nutrition to build strength, somatic movement to understand the nervous system and emotions and coaching to help clients make changes that actually stick.

2017-2018

Access to Science & Biomedical Sciences

Biology and chemistry, the science that lets me read your symptoms and understand the mechanism of what is happening.

2018-2021

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy Diploma

A three-year clinical training. The first year is pure biomedicine, every body system. I went on to tutor biomedicine students myself. Then two years of clinical nutrition training.

Health Coaching for Nutrition Professionals

Because knowing what would help is only half of it. This is how I create personalised protocols that fit into a demanding job, a family and a luteal week.

Certified Somatic Movement Coach

Talking, supplements, and nutrition do not resolve PMS alone. This training taught me to work with the nervous system and release stored emotion, stress and tension through the body.

What sets my work apart

Your body and your emotions are intimately connected.

Plenty of practitioners can hand you a diet plan or a supplement list. What creates real, lasting change in your luteal week is working with the physiology and the emotional system together. That's exactly how I work with every woman I see.

I don't lead with lab tests.

Testing a nervous system that's clearly in a stress response gives us one answer, you're in a stress response. Functional tests have their place, later, once your body is calm enough to show what's actually happening underneath that activation.

Somatic work isn't a bonus module.

Where most nutrition-led practitioners offer a mindset masterclass as an extra, emotional release is a whole phase of my method, with its own dedicated space in The Release Membership.

I start with the whole person.

Your health history, your family history, your nervous system patterns, your unmet needs. A test result can't tell me why your body got here, your story can.

I am a real person, doing this work with you.

I'm not a huge business who'll send you a long protocol and never reply to your emails. I'm a woman who's been in your shoes, who's dedicated her life to this work, and who's committed to supporting you, not just in calming PMS and period pain, but in feeling at home in your body, through your whole cycle.

What working together feels like

Florence has this way of care that is so professional, but also feels like a friend cheering me on from the sidelines.

I noticed in the first call how much I needed to be held and how easy it felt to be held by you. Feeling in really safe hands is phenomenal.

We really shouldn't have to just accept the suffering linked to our periods as inevitable. It can get better.

You are not a small man.

All these years of training showed me two things.

Female biology does not work the same as male biology.

This modern world was built for male biology.

Your brain, your nervous system and your needs change in the week before your period, and because nobody taught us how to work with that change, it becomes so much harder to understand what's going on, to connect with the people you love in that phase, to hold it together at work. This isn't because something's wrong with you, it's because you were never given the instructions for your own female body.

Once you understand your physiology, it isn't only the luteal week that changes. It becomes the foundation for everything, a calmer life, loving relationships, and work you can actually show up for.
